We are delighted to invite you on an exploratory walk to discover the connections between forests and birds!
This guided walk will be led by two experts: Jeff Rittcherson, ornithologist with Mass Audubon, and Jacob Seidel, forester with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Together, they will share insights into how healthy forests sustain ecosystem balance and provide vital resources for wildlife. Migratory birds like Wood Thrushes, Ovenbirds, and warblers depend on forests for food and shelter, while year-round residents such as chickadees, woodpeckers, and sparrows rely on them for seeds, insects, and nesting sites.
