Winter Lecture Series: Reptiles and Amphibians of Massachusetts – Citizen Science and Endangered Species

Massachusetts supports a notable richness of reptiles and amphibian species for a relatively small and northern state. Nearly 50 spectacular and interesting species are found from the salt marshes of Cape Cod and Buzzards Bay to the calcareous fens of Berkshire County. In this 1-hr presentation we will discuss a representative selection of native species, including case studies, and a new effort to map species distributions and important habitats.

Learn to identify current and future threats to our forest and how the DCR Forest Health Program monitors and manages for them.

Winter Lecture Series: Birds of Prey

Join Tom Ricardi for a close encounter with live birds of prey. Tom is the owner of the Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Center in Conway and cares for injured falcons, owls, eagles, and other raptors, rescuing between 125-150 birds a year. Retired from a 38-year career with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Tom has had an interest in birds since he was a child and is considered the most knowledgeable resource for injured raptors in Western Massachusetts.
