The Norcross Wildlife Foundation is undertaking one of the largest stream and freshwater restoration projects in Massachusetts. This ambitious effort brings together regional and national conservation organizations, including Mass Audubon, American Rivers, faculty and students from UMass Amherst and staff from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, to advance a large-scale ecological restoration initiative.

Given the scale and complexity of this project, Norcross Wildlife Foundation will launch a Fall–Winter Seminar Series beginning in September. The series will connect audiences across the region with the science, planning, partnerships, and ecological vision behind a restoration project of this magnitude. Each month, Norcross will offer a hybrid seminar, allowing participants to attend either in person or virtually via Zoom. Whenever possible, seminars will be followed by a guided field walk to different portions of the restoration project area, providing participants with an opportunity to connect the topics discussed during the presentation with the landscape itself.

All seminars will be recorded and made available on our website, creating a permanent educational resource for community members, conservation professionals, students, landowners, and anyone interested in freshwater ecology and watershed restoration. These programs are designed to provide broader ecological and regional context while helping audiences better understand the biodiversity, hydrological, and landscape-scale benefits of a restoration project of this magnitude. Throughout the series, participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the planning process, biodiversity surveys, research, partnerships, and permitting required to move a complex watershed restoration project from vision to implementation.

Seminar dates and additional program details will be announced soon. Individuals interested in attending or receiving updates about the Fall–Winter Seminar Series are encouraged to contact us at dmunozagudelo@norcrosswildlife.org or to fill out the interest form
