SUMMARY:2024 Winter Lectures: Geological History of Wales and Vicinity
DESCRIPTION:Professor Richard Little will present a program on the geological “deep history” of Wales and its vicinity.  Included in the program will be a story of the birth and death of the Pangea Supercontinent which includes continental collisions and great rift faults that created the Connecticut River Valley Region\, dinosaur footprints\, glaciers\, and Lake Hitchcock.  Professor Little is also the discoverer of rare\, Jurassic armored mud balls seen only in Franklin County and is presently working to have these “interesting\, photogenic\, and fun geological oddities” become the “official sedimentary structure” of Massachusetts! \nMore information can be found at this website http://www.ArmoredMudBalls.rocks. \nProf. Little states that the Connecticut Valley area of Massachusetts is the best place in the world to study geology.  Come to this talk to find out why!  He will also have copies of his two books “Dinosaurs\, Dunes\, and Drifting Continents — the Geology of the Connecticut River Valley” and “Exploring Franklin County” for sale at special prices. \nRichard Little is Prof. Emeritus\, Greenfield Community College. He is the author of several books and videos about local geology and is a frequent presenter to school and adult groups. \nFor more information:  RDLittle2000@aol.com; www.EarthView.rocks \nRegistration is required for this event as seating is limited.  Please call 413-245-1353 or email info@norcrosswildlife.org to register.
